Meditation: a simple word and yet some of us may not understand completely the true meaning of meditation and how it can help us in our lives. Meditation is not just yoga, and contrary to the perception of some people, the practice of meditation is not confined to any particular religion, race or culture.
Meditation can be an exceptionally insightful, profound and beautiful experience for some who practise it. For others, it brings comfort, peace and relaxation to overcome the stress of daily living. Whatever the experience, one thing for certain is that meditation puts us in a special state like no other human activity does.
There is an endless sea of knowledge on meditation inherited from our forebears so a mere article alone cannot begin to even scratch the surface of what this ancient practice can do for you. However, as an introduction and at the same time a re-stating of the subject, this article will take you on a brief exploration of what meditation and one of its other aspects, creative visualisation, actually are.
What is Meditation?
In its simplest terms, meditation can mean awareness. So whatever you do with full awareness is meditation. Observing your breathing is meditation; listening to the birds sing is meditation; cooking for your family with love is meditation; and holding your baby in your arms is too, meditation.
Meditation is any activity you do with a one hundred percent focus. As long as the activity is free from any distraction in your mind, it is effective meditation. Meditation can also mean ‘a cessation of the thought process’. This describes a state of consciousness when the mind is free of scattered thoughts and distracting thought patterns.
The idea behind meditation is to consciously relax your body and focus your thoughts on just one thing or one object for a sustained period of time. For example, the one thing to focus on can be your breathing. This conscious intention of relaxing your body and focusing on your breathing occupies your mind; diverting it from the daily problems that cause you stress.
In today’s modern but stressful life, meditation is a natural way to relax, release stress, re-focus, and quiet your mind and thoughts. It also creates positive self-empowering energy; rebalances your mind, body and emotions; and connects you with your inner power, higher consciousness and wisdom.
Meditation is not merely a technique – it is a way of life. With daily and consistent practice, meditation becomes a lifestyle and enhances the state of your being. Meditation is an easy way to release your stress and rebalance your mind, body and emotions. It also connects you with your inner power and wisdom.
What is Creative Visualisation?
Creative Visualisation is using the conscious mind to imagine particular situations that you want to create in your life. Your thoughts create energy vibrations. By the Law of Attraction, you attract vibrations in the form of situations or people that resonate with those thoughts. So in effect you are creating what you imagine.
By using creative visualisation, you can easily tap into the power of the Universe and create for yourself what you desire.
The subconscious mind cannot differentiate between what is real and what is imagined. By doing creative visualisation repeatedly over some time, you can manifest your goals.

The secret to creative visualisation is not only to see yourself in the visualisation but also to feel you are really there enjoying what you have manifested. Practise creative visualisation with your five senses – sight, smell, taste, hearing and touch. Creative visualisation is easy and enjoyable and you can manifest positive situations for yourself even after only one session when you do it properly.
You can affirm in front of the mirror every morning “I enjoy visualising, I am excellent at visualising and what I visualise happens for me quickly for my highest good and the highest good of others.”
Creative visualisation meditation is an easy way to tap into your personal power and create a bridge between your conscious and subconscious minds.

In summary, meditation and creative visualisation are simple but highly effective tools to bring about personal change for the better and create the things you envision for your life.
