Soy Candles For Christmas–Candles have been the source of light and warmth for mankind since a long time ago; the first believed to have originated in China and were rendered from whale fat. Today, most candles are made from paraffin wax, a petroleum by-product collected from sludge waste when crude oil is processed into gasoline. I don’t know what’s more frightening – breathing in molecules of whale blubber or subjecting you and your loved ones to industrial gunk disguised as aromatic scents.

Needless to say, burning of paraffin-based candles will emit toxic chemicals that are threatening to both your health and the environment. When burned in huge amounts, these chemicals might provoke asthma, induce allergy-like symptoms, or irritate the respiratory system. Paraffin wax candles are also sold at lower costs as compared to soy or beeswax candles, but that is only because they are cheaper to produce. Don’t scrimp on that extra dollar and end up paying an even heavier price for your health.

Soy candles, on the other hand, are made from vegetable oil (soybeans), thus making them non-toxic, naturally bio-degradable, and a much healthier alternative for humans, pets, and the planet. Soy candles also burn 50% longer than traditional candles, making them more cost-effective in the long run, even though they may seem more expensive at first. In addition, soy candles have a stronger, more lasting scent due to its low melting point, where essential oils get to disperse more effectively into the surroundings from the larger liquid wax pool around the candle wick.

Convinced into getting your own soy candles but not sure where to start? Here is a list of our best-loved soy candles to help sweeten up your home tis’ festive season!
