It’s lights off in all stores & facilities on March 25 for the fashion retailer.
From 8.30pm to 9.30pm, H&M stores and facilities in Singapore will participate in Earth Hour by turning off all non-essential lights. This will account for 70% of lightings in stores, including the facade screens and window display lights; the remainder are turned on for safety and technical reasons.
This is not the first year that the fashion retailer has taken part in Earth Hour—H&M Southeast Asia Country Manager Fredrik Famm says, “In order to show our commitment, H&M will once again join Earth Hour and take this opportunity to encourage our employees and customers to be environmentally responsible.”
On March 25 itself, H&M Singapore customers are encouraged to bring their own shopping bags when shopping at stores. Alternatively, reusable tote bags made from organic cotton and recycled cotton will be sold exclusively at H&M Orchard Building and ION Orchard, with prices starting from $1.90. Customers can also take part in H&M’s on-going garment collecting initiative by donating their unwanted garments & textiles of any brand and in any condition at H&M stores across the country. For every bag donated, customers will receive a 15% discount voucher; terms and conditions apply.
