As Kayla Itsines, the creator of Bikini Body Guide said: “Motivation is what gets you started, habit is what keeps you going.” Staying in shape requires consistency, which is achieved through the cultivation of good habits.
Here are the top few must-have habits of fit females.
1.They make a plan
Even though fitness is part of their lifestyle, fit females do not wake up and spontaneously decide to go for a morning run.
Making a plan is still necessary to fit exercise sessions into their hectic schedules. As a working student, juggling between academia and my internship can be challenging at times. Therefore, planning my workout sessions at the start of every week helps me pursue my important commitments without compromising on fitness. Besides, setting aside time for exercise is always better than relying on motivation. Motivation fluctuates from day to day, so by making a plan, all you need to do is to show up!
2.They get enough sleep
Fit females recognize the importance of getting sufficient sleep and make it a habit to catch at least 6 hours of sleep a day.
Sleeping is vital for the body to recover, especially if it has undergone an intense work out session. Inadequate sleep would not only hinder recovery but also results in lethargy. Lethargy then kills the desire to exercise.
Also, did you know that researchers from the University of Chicago showed that sleep deprivation increases cortisol levels, which in turn results in fat gain?
3.They do a variety of workouts
Diversity of workouts is important to fit females, as it helps them avoid boredom.
Sticking to a single workout type or routine could result in boredom over time and reduces exercise motivation. By incorporating different types of exercises such as yoga or kickboxing into your regime, you would enjoy yourself more and look forward to every session!
4.They take off-days from working out
Yes, you do not have to exercise every day in order to stay fit.
In fact, rest days are as important as the workout itself because they give your muscles, nerves, bones, and connective tissues time to rebuild. A tired body reduces the desire to exercise. Resting a day could make the next day’s workout session more enjoyable and effective because your body is not as sore!
5.They don’t eat 100% healthy all the time
Eating 100% healthy is not entirely impossible, but is very challenging to sustain in the long run.
By depriving yourself of your favourite treats, you might end up binge-eating and come to regret it even more. Staying in shape does not require you to go on extreme diets, it is all about eating in moderation. Fit females recognize that it is okay to occasionally indulge as long as they eat healthy most of the time.
